Ladder on the wall (variant for flat roofs)

But such a ladder can be made of polished or brushed stainless steel.

Use

Usually, roof hatches are placed above the upper landing of the staircase. The location of manholes in pitched roofs depends on the slope of the rafters. The distance between the manhole box and the adjacent rafters to which it is attached should not exceed 7 cm, if this gap is larger, two cross beams and one vertical beam should be installed between the rafters (one of the sides of the manhole box). When the roof hatch is wider than the distance between the rafters, cut a section of the rafter leg and reinforce its cut edges to the transverse end beams transferring the load to the adjacent rafters. There are several sizes of manholes available on the market: the smallest – 45 x 55 cm, the largest – 120 x 120 cm It is also possible to order a custom-made manhole. But the price of such a hatch will be 20-30% higher than the cost of a mass-produced hatch of similar dimensions. The chimney casing is usually finished with a galvanized steel roof, its surface is primed and covered with paints and varnishes or powder varnish. Then there will be no need to use escalators for the chimney sweep.

To prevent the chimney cap from being visible on the roof surface, it is lined with the material used to make the roof. It is easier to finish the chimney covering on the roof made of bituminous shingles or steel sheet. But it is better to entrust it to a professional roofer who will do the job better. The lid can be transparent, filled with glass or polycarbonate. The hatch opens upwards or to the sides. In the open position, the cover can be fixed with two cylinders (gas springs). Mass-produced manholes are equipped with devices that prevent uncontrolled closing of the cover. If the manhole is installed above a heated room (stairs, dressing room, utility room), its thermal insulation properties are of great importance. Some manufacturers offer insulated roof hatches, the structure of which can have resistance to heat transfer R=1.5m2K/W (the polycarbonate lid has R=0.45m2K/W). The sleeves supplied with the manholes allow them to be installed in roofs with a layer of various materials, both flat and corrugated, having both regular waves and high profile waves.

Sometimes roof hatches are equipped with anti-burglary protection, their cap is additionally reinforced from the inside, and the hinge pins will not allow them to be removed with the cover closed. The manhole can be equipped with a lock grille located at the bottom of the manhole box. It is possible to order a hatch with a three-bolt lock with a bolt or with a bolt equipped with a certified lock cylinder.

Roof Treads and Ladders (Suitable for pitched roofs)

The freedom of movement of people on the surface of the sloping roof is ensured by steps and ladders mounted on the roof. On roofs with a slope of less than 30°, the steps should be installed at a distance of 70 cm between them (in every second row of tiles).
